April Update

Semana Santa is not was it was 2 years ago. This year and last year everything was canceled due to the covid pandemic that has changed many things for everyone. Antigua has had a negative economic impact due to the reduced number of tourist that normally come for this special week. To compensate for the loss businesses have raised prices, especially the restaurants. We pray for a return to a more normal environment but it may take quite awhile before this happens.

Our base continues to conduct ministry on a reduced scale. Current restrictions limit us to only 10 people in the room at a time. This is a major change from the prepandemic era when we had 80-90 women gathering each week and a group of 25 youth meeting weekly. Currently we are hosting the DTS group from the YWAM base in Guatemala city. They are spending a week with us as they continue to through the lecture phase. It is a blessing for us to have them with us.

Freedom in Christ/Libertad en Cristo seminar will be offered on May 22 at the base.  Roberto Reed will be conducting the one day seminar to Pastors and church leaders.  The seminar will provide help tools to overcome areas of life that are a constant struggle to experience the liberty Christ wants each person to experience on a daily basis.

In June we plan to host the Summer Spanish School and Outreach. The 4 week class starts on June 13 and will end on July 9. It is a great way to learn Spanish and receive discipleship training to prepare for the final week of outreach. Please check out the information on the website.

We also will be conducting the YWAM DTS beginning July 22 through December 10. Our focus will be on Compassionate Leadership. This 5 month school is a life changing experience and after successful completion will qualify students to join a YWAM base as a staff member. The minimum age to attend is 18 but there is no maximum age! We welcome everyone to be a part of this great discipleship school.

Our base is open year round to host teams  to work with us.  We have a variety of ministries teams can help us conduct.  Our facility can accommodate groups of 30+ and is very comfortable.  If you are interested in bringing a group please contact us as soon as possible to confirm the dates.

YWAM Antigua is always looking for people that hear the call of Jesus to pursue full time missions.  One requirement of every full time worker with YWAM is to complete the YWAM-DTS.  If you have completed it and are being called to work with us, we would love to talk to you about opportunities to serve with us.
